There was a time when almost everyone knew the people living next door.

Children rode their bikes until the streetlights came on. Shop owners greeted customers by name. Local newspapers told the stories of everyday people. Neighbors helped shovel driveways after a snowfall, coached little league teams, organized community fairs, and looked out for one another.

Community wasn't something you searched for.

It was simply life.

Today, we live in a remarkable age. We can communicate instantly with someone on the other side of the world. We have unlimited information in our pockets and more ways to connect than any previous generation.

Yet something important has quietly slipped away.

Perhaps that's why more people today are looking for something smaller.
